Pro Quest
Not a post that I'd ever expect to see on the Armoury Line. But, once again, the London FaB community has made me feel so welcomed that I think I would still find value participating in a slightly more competitive event. Me, a casual, who honest to goodness still loses like 80% of my games at Armouries every week. Of course, playing with the group means I'm guaranteed to have fun anyway.
And so, I will be participating in a (couple?) Pro Quest event in the first quarter of 2022.
Why and what is Pro Quest?
To put into context why Pro Quest wasn't something I'd expect to write about, take a look at this

Pro Quest is a Tier 2 event. They are held by local game stores that LSS have allocated. And, as it's name suggests, it's the start of higher level play, with PTI up for grabs (an invitation to Tier 3 and 4 events, which are invites only). As LSS have it on their website: "Pro Quest tournaments are serious high-level tournaments where the winner can take home major prizes, but can also qualify for the next Pro Tour event on the calendar." .
Being a casual player, I had only really expected to play at Tier 1 events, at most it would be events like the Skirmish I participated in last year. However, LSS also said on their website: "Like Skirmish events, Pro Quest events are intended to be fairly accessible for communities around the world". I found their event structure to hold to these words! Anybody could grab a ticket (but do so quickly as they can go fast!) and rock up to the event, ready to rumble. This was also one factor that made me feel like such an event isn't out of reach for casual players.
Additionally, as I said, the FaB community in London is truly an amazing and welcoming group. The morning the Pro Quest tickets were on sale for Dice and Destiny in Canterbury, a few folks in the group tried to get in touch with me (Arian even rang me 😂 ) to get me to get in there. It made me feel so welcomed. Despite not originally intending to participate, I knew I was going to have fun, so I signed up!
So, what's next?
I'm not embarking on my journey to becoming a pro. But, I respect those who see this as their first step in their own quest to do so. I know I keep calling myself a 'casual'. Thats really only because I'm not usually early in getting competitive pieces like CnC and Legendary equipments. I can assure you that I will always play to the best of my abilities to respect my opponent and the sportsmanship of the game. So, bring it!
I also hope that, through writing about the event, I can show newer players and players who have aspirations to be a pro that you can do this! Maybe I'll see you at a Pro Quest event.
Well, I better prepare for Pro Quest. Luckily, I have quite a while. The Dice and Destiny one, which I signed up for, is in March. Additionally, most of early 2022 Armouries are looking like they will be Classic Constructed, the format at Pro Quest events. So, I will have plenty of practise!
