Goodbye, Geek Retreat Holloway

This is, sadly, another goodbye post to a local game store that has been serving the north London area for a good few years: Geek Retreat Holloway (GR). The second Geek Retreat in London that have closed its doors.

I originally visited the store in 2021.

The Flesh and Blood scene at GR was small, but growing. I had put in a lot of effort to try and grow the scene there for a time, but due to the extremely long commute for me, I was not able to keep up the effort. Regardless, Charlie and crew continued to push for the game. It certainly have had some ups and downs. But, the GR team have always been the store that was most open to feedback, and I would reckon that the friendliness and openess was what kept the scene going until the very end.

Many other games GR supported also had a very good scene. Whatever the reason for its closing, it wasn't due to a lack of customers. In that sense, it really is a loss for everyone.

I wish Charlie, Jon and the team at GR all the best with their future endeavours. The word on their Discord server is that they are only saying goodbye to the four walls that was their store. So, there is hope that we will see them around yet!
