The road to Nationals

I know everyone is really hype for Uprising right now, especially since many didn't get to experience pre-release the week before due to delays, and Uprising release has just been very good. But, its also the season where everyone is grinding in order to qualify for Nationals this year, me included. So, let's talk a little bit about that.

Nationals is exactly what's written on the tin. This is the national championship for Flesh and Blood!

There are 2 ways to qualify for Nationals:

• Winning a Road to Nationals (RTN) event.
• Qualifying through 90-day-xp, placing at the top xth position.

Many FaB players, me included, are grinding Armouries to qualify for 90-day-xp. No, no, I haven't become a super competitive FaB player. It just so happened that when the cutoff date was announced for qualifying through xp, I was just out of the estimated bounds. I was placing 105th. Last year the top 90 went to Nationals. I thought that since I'm here anyway, why not give it a go. I'm not aiming to win at Nationals. I'd be very satisfied if I just qualified for it, just so that I can pat myself on the back. Then, I can just go to it and have some respectful fun! As well as documenting the experience for you all, of course.

I usually only go to my local, Troll Trader, on Thursdays. But, I fixed my schedule around to be able to do more Armouries at Bad Moon Cafe and Dark Sphere as well. Since I'm a bit behind, I also did a few cheeky online Armouries 😜. You can find these online Armouries on the Event Locator. The grind is real.

Of course, there is also the 'winning an RTN event' route. I am planning to attend the two RTN events in London, the one at R0 and the one at BMC. R0 will be a post-uprising CC event, and BMC will be an Uprising draft! Everyone in London is really good, so I'm not hedging my bets on winning an RTN. But, both events should be really fun, plus I still get some xp, so why not. Watch out for articles about both!

My playgroup reckons that about 200xp is the soft cap for qualifying. The 90 day cutoff period is from 26th May to 24th July. I will be losing my Skirmish xp because of this, even though I did fairly well. So, I did some quick mafs and I probably need to get about 30xp a week from now till the end of July to qualify, about 10 Armoury wins a week 😅. Not impossible.

I have been managing about 3 wins per Blitz Armoury, and grinding about 3-4 a week. Hopefully, I'll make it!

I'm now 70th place after a couple weeks grinding. Let's goooo.
