Qualified for Nationals 2022

Road to National season have completed!

I managed to come in at 21st place on the UK 90-day xp leadeboard.

Should mean that I made it! Just need to wait for the email to confirm.

There were a few things about this Nationals season that was voiced in the UK community that I thought should be reflected upon. One thing that I definitely agree with is that the cutoff dates should have been announced before the season started. I took a quick break after Skirmish season and it made it more difficult to qualify. If I had known, I would have been able to schedule my time better. There were also a lot of contradicting opinions regarding whether using 90-day xp leaderboard was the right way to fill up spaces, perhaps something to discuss in future articles. There were also comments about the number of spaces for UK Nationals being rather small for the playerbase. We only got news recently that its 96 spaces, most of us were expecting way more.

Regardless of these issues, the last couple of months have become a rather memorable time for me. It's been a while since I've tried so hard at something. Between work and just general adult-ing, it didn't seem possible at first to accomplish anything like this. But, I did somehow manage, and the feeling of accomplishment is nice. I guess the key to it all was prioritising going to Armouries in the evening after work. As I said at the start of the grind, I did manage to shuffle my schedule around to accomplish this. Of course, I am also fortunate in that London has multiple Armouries a week, and that I could make it to most of them within reasonable time, most are only a 30 minute commute if I'm already in the office. Also fortunate in that my family is supportive of me in this endeavour. I was also cutting my losses at RTN, as I knew it would be too risky to bank it all on making it to top 4. So, I just did a few to gain the extra xp. In hindsight, the online Armouries were nice, but were not necessary, so long as I can consistently make 2-3 Armouries a week.

Well played to everyone who participated in the grind and the RTN events!

As I grinded xp with my amazing London playgroup, I also felt a sense of comradery that isn't easy to come by. I don't reckon I would have tried as hard, or had as much fun, without them. They have been an amazing support group in the grind!

All of us will have a lot of fun at Nationals together regardless, as it will be at Dark Sphere London this year! The schedule looks packed, there looks to be some amazing side events with awesome prizes. It's going to be a banger weekend, so come join us in Flesh and Blood!
